New SynQor MCOTS-F-28-T-HE filter helps meet military power standards

Advertorial

SynQor has expanded its Military Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (MCOTS) power portfolio with the launch of the MCOTS-F-28-T-HE transient filter, a new half-brick DC EMI filter designed to help defence and aerospace power systems meet stringent military power quality requirements. According to the SynQor press release, the filter supports a continuous input range of -40 to 40Vdc and withstands transients up to 210Vdc while delivering up to 600W or 40A continuously.

The latest addition to the MCOTS family extends SynQor’s range of ruggedised power conversion products for military ground, sea and airborne platforms. Available through Astute as an authorised SynQor distribution partner, the device is designed to simplify compliance with military power standards while reducing the design effort associated with protecting downstream electronics.

Designed for Military Standards Compliance

The SynQor product announcement states that the MCOTS-F-28-T-HE enables standard and low-input 28Vdc MCOTS converters to comply with a broad range of military and aerospace standards, including MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-1275 B/D, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810G, DO-160E and DEF-STAN 61-5.

The module incorporates active surge, spike and reverse-polarity protection, helping shield power architectures from harsh electrical environments encountered across defence applications. When exposed to spikes and surges, the integrated buck stage limits the output to below 50Vdc, providing additional protection for downstream systems.

SynQor adds that the filter can continue operating down to an input voltage of 5.8Vdc once started, supporting system resilience during demanding power events. Startup inrush current is limited to approximately 4A, while standby current consumption remains below 12mA.

“Supporting a continuous input range from -40 to 40Vdc and transients up to 210Vdc,” SynQor said. The module is intended for compatibility across a wide range of military platforms and applications.

The company also notes that the filter includes a “pass-through ON/OFF feature”, enabling control of downstream converters without compromising EMI performance.

Rugged Power Protection for Defence Platforms

The MCOTS-F-28-T-HE shares the same encased construction used throughout the MCOTS family, allowing operation in demanding military environments. According to SynQor, these filters can be paired with its DC-DC converters to create military-standard-compliant power architectures while helping to shorten development schedules.

“These ultra-high power density filter modules can be paired with SynQor’s DC-DC converters to build military standard compliant systems,” the company added in its announcement.

Through its partnership with SynQor, Astute provides customers with access to the manufacturer’s military power portfolio alongside technical support, design-in assistance and global supply chain services. This enables defence and aerospace programmes to evaluate, source and deploy compliant power conversion solutions through a single authorised channel.

As military platforms continue to require higher power density, greater electrical protection and compliance with multiple defence standards, products such as the MCOTS-F-28-T-HE provide an additional option for system designers seeking qualified power protection solutions within established military power architectures.

Damian Semple, Franchise Marketing Manager, Astute Group, comments: “The growing complexity of military power systems means compliance requirements are rarely isolated to a single standard. Access to proven power protection products through authorised channels helps reduce qualification risk and can simplify long-term supply planning for defence programmes.”

Astute is an authorised distribution partner for SynQor.
