Cinch adds five MD801 connector configurations for defence applications

Cinch Connectivity Solutions is a Bel group company providing connectivity solutions, which expanded its Mil/Aero Circular MD801 Series, adding five new configurations designed to meet the weight, space and reliability demands of defence applications.

Defence engineers face constant pressure to reduce size and weight without sacrificing survivability. The MD801 series answers that challenge by delivering a MIL-DTL-38999 performance level in a significantly smaller, lighter package. Its Dual-Start ACME thread prevents cross-mating and resists vibration-induced disconnection, critical for platforms operating under shock loads up to 300g and vibration up to 37g. Mated connectors carry an IP67 rating and operate across -65°C to +175°C, making them well-suited for UAVs, military vehicle communications, satellite systems, tactical radios, and ruggedized displays.

The new products include the MD801 5-3, MD801 6-4, MD801 7-10, MD801 13-2, and MD801 13-3 models in aluminum shells with multiple finish options including olive drab chromate, black hard anodize, zinc nickel and electroless nickel.

“The goal with the MD801 has always been to give defence, aerospace and harsh environment engineers more ways to solve difficult problems with a connector they can trust. These new configurations offer more contact arrangements, more shell sizes, and more application coverage, all within a proven and qualified product family,” said Randy Brandt, Product Manager at Cinch Connectivity Solutions.

Connectors are available in plug and receptacle configurations with crimp, solder, and PC tail terminations for board-mount applications. Shell sizes range from 5 to 13 with contact arrangements from 1 to 130, spanning jam nut receptacles, square flange receptacles, and in-line plugs, all compatible with leading market equivalents for straightforward drop-in replacement on existing programs.
