The MGate 5216 series EtherCAT gateways support both Modbus RTU/ASCII clients and MicroPython for programming proprietary serial protocols. This means that Modbus and serial devices can be connected to an EtherCAT host. Multiple serial devices can be connected cost-effectively via two serial ports that are configured via software.
