Automotive child presence detection system is a breakthrough in AI-powered UWB radar

Products

A powerful AI-based Automotive child presence detection (CPD) system comes from a partnership between Aria Sensing and Algorized. The CPD is a first system from the AI-powered ultra-wideband (UWB) radar based sensing platform that combines Aria’s 3D UWB radar System-on-Chip, Hydrogen, with Algorized’s Edge-Native Nervous System.

“Traditional UWB solutions were never optimised for high-resolution radar sensing,” said Alessio Ciaccatori, CEO of Aria Sensing. “Hydrogen changes the paradigm. Combined with Algorized’s real-time edge-AI engine, we are delivering a sensing platform that dramatically outperforms conventional UWB and mmWave solutions in sensitivity, angular resolution, power efficiency, and real-world robustness.”

The Hydrogen UWB radar SoC provides integrated digital beamforming (~ 5° angular resolution) and programmable bandwidth to 1.8GHz. Its features allow it to detect micro-motions, respiratory activity, precise occupancy mapping, behavioural patterns and more with a dramatically reduced latency, and at a fraction of the power consumption and cost of legacy radar architectures.

The CPD in-cabin solution is designed for OEM and Tier-1 integration and aligned with emerging global safety regulations. However, the platform extends beyond CPD, to potentially provide intelligent sensing devices for smart buildings, consumer electronics, HVAC and appliances, industrial safety systems, elderly monitoring, and a lot more.
