Amphenol Industrial Operations has expanded its compact floating mate connector series with three models that integrate power and signal transmission, while reducing misalignment during blind mating.
“As power demands in the clean energy sector increase, commonly exceeding 100 amperes, reliable, high power density interconnects that fit into compact battery storage systems are needed. Our expanded Floating Mate Connector Series now offers variants that integrate power and signal into one miniaturized component and reliably operate in modern high-current applications,” said Austin Cronk, Americas Product Manager of Amphenol Industrial Operations.
Optimised for compact power applications handling up to 120A, these rugged, high-current floating mate connectors incorporate Amphenol’s industry-leading RADSOK technology, providing exceptional power terminal performance. The new interconnects are ideal for demanding applications in energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicles (EV) and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEV).
Three new floating mate connectors offer a range of power and signal options:
- 2+12: 2 power pins (1,000 VDC), 12 signaling pins (200 VDC)
- 4+12: 4 power pins (1,000 VDC), 12 signaling pins (200 VDC)
- 4+12 Mini: 4 power pins (1,500 VDC), 12 signaling pins (300 VDC)
Guide pins on the connectors help to correct misalignment (up to 2.4 mm) during blind mating. Optional removal tools for both the power and signal pins as well as an optional floating mount that reduces fatiguing stress on connectors during blind mating are available.
Each connector in the series is rated for more than 100 mating/unmating cycles, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C and crimp termination. The series is certified to UL 4128, TUV 2PfG2740 and IEC 61984 and has a 94 V-0 flammability rating.
