As electronic products become more and more compact, the space available on the circuit board for the components becomes more limited, leaving designers looking for frequency control products in increasingly smaller package sizes.
Geyer Electronic has just released their new micro SMD RTC crystal – the KX-327VT, measuring just 1.25 x 1.05x 0.5mm. Manufactured by a special, fully automatic production process, this tiny crystal offers accurate time measuring over a very long period. It has an operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C, standard tolerance of +/-20ppm and is available with either a 12.5pF or, to reduce power consumption, a 7pF load capacitance. This compliments the tiny KX-4 1.6×1.2mm quartz crystal package that has been available for some time.
Tiny components do not stop with the crystals. Geyer’s new VCTCXO KXO-81, measures just 2×1.6×0.7mm and offers a frequency tolerance of +/- 1.5ppm (+/-2.5ppm 25°C) with a 1.5mA power consumption. Also available as a TCXO, it is an ideal component for W-LAN, ISM, NFT and wireless modules or any applications where space and low power consumption is a priority. For designers that do not need the VCTCXO or TCXO options, Geyer already offers their KXO-V94 clock oscillator in the same package size.
